Our Services
Why Beyond the Brush?
At Beyond the Brush, we believe learning art begins long before the brush touches the canvas. It begins with feeling safe enough to try. Safe enough to make mistakes. To ask questions. To work differently. To be quiet or wonderfully expressive. To take your time. To discover what your way of creating looks like.
We teach technique. We teach color, composition, observation, materials, problem-solving and craftsmanship. We challenge our students because we believe they are capable of growing.
But, we also know that no two minds walk into our studio the same way.
Some of our students notice everything. Some feel things deeply. Some need movement. Some need quiet. Some arrive bursting with ideas; others need time before an idea finds its way to the surface.
We don’t believe those differences need to be erased before learning can begin.
They are where learning begins.
Our role is not to create artists who all paint alike. It is to help each student develop the skills, confidence and freedom to discover the artist already taking shape within them.
That is why our classes are small. Why instruction is individualized. Why questions matter here. Why experimentation matters. Why progress matters more than perfection.
And why belonging will always be part of what we teach.
To every student who walks through our door:
We’ll meet you there.
You belong here!

We teach all levels, all medias, all ages!
Calm, nurturing environment
Progress over perfection
Experienced guidance
We work with each student as a unique artist, beginning by nurturing their natural strengths and creative voice. From that foundation, we gently guide them into areas where growth is still unfolding—always with care, intention, and respect for their individual pace.
This balance keeps our students engaged, confident, and, most importantly, continuously evolving.
We invite our students to take ownership of their creative journey by choosing subject matter that inspires them. Along the way, we introduce a variety of artistic mediums—drawing, painting, sculpting, and more—so they can explore different ways of expressing who they are.

Applying to the Center for Creative Arts is about more than assembling a collection of artwork. Students are being asked to demonstrate artistic skill, creativity, observation, potential, and an ability to communicate about their own work.
At Beyond the Brush Art Studio, our CCA preparation is designed with that larger picture in mind.
We work individually with each young artist to evaluate where they are now, identify their strengths and areas for growth, and intentionally develop a portfolio that is varied, technically strong, personal, and memorable.
Rather than creating a collection of similar projects, students are encouraged to explore different subjects, techniques, and visual languages. Depending on the individual artist and current CCA requirements, portfolio development may include:
Graphite and observational drawing
Colored pencil
Watercolor
Acrylic painting
Pastel
Mixed media
Three-dimensional or sculptural work
Composition, color, value, perspective, and other foundational skills
Imaginative and personally meaningful work
Every portfolio is different because every young artist is different.
Our goal is not to manufacture a portfolio that looks as though it came from a teacher. We want the student’s own hand, ideas, curiosity, and developing artistic voice to remain visible.
It is helping students learn how to see, how to think, how to make artistic choices, and how to understand why those choices work. Because ultimately, we are preparing more than the portfolio.
We are preparing the artist who will walk into the room carrying it.
Whether a student is just beginning to think about CCA or preparing for an upcoming application and audition, we meet them where they are and build intentionally from there.
